The New Year Is Underway.

On the U2 disc War, Bono sings “Nothing Changes on New Year’s Day” and indeed, he’s mostly right. Other than the picture on the calender, I haven’t seen that much changed so far. I’ve decided to take a new angle on the whole new years resolution thing. Just before X-mas, I was speaking to a friend and she said that she’s only kept one new year’s resolution in the passed 24 years. The resolution was not to make any new year resolutions. Simply genius. I’m going to go with that plan because I’m well aware that a diet is the only thing that dies faster than a houseplant around here. Besides, you just need to drop by Wal-Mart around 3am and you’ll realize that freak in your mirror ain’t bad at all compared to them freaks.

Life already gave me a bit of a reminder that I am getting older. As with every single year, the media has to do it’s ‘Best of the Year’ lists. I was checking out Pitchfork Media and thier list of the top 50 albums of 2006 and had only heard of maybe three of them. So much for keeping a finger on the pulse of music, but I’m OK wiht that since the RIAA has turned on it’s customers, I’m not feeling too bad turning my back on them.
