Vader’s Wake Up Service

Posted on July 15th, 2007 by William.

This morning around five thirty, Vader - my black cat (not the one pictured, but with the same evil intent) - jumped on the bed and was being very lovable. He started nibbling on Michelle’s hand, but she misunderstood the message and thought he just wanted to play. So he went to the dark side, stepped onto the end table and started flicking our glasses, remotes and small items to the floor. Then the final blow was the lamp taking a tumble, then I translated it for her - the food bowl was empty. Soon the food bowl was full, the water bowl was topped off and all was right in the kitty world once again.

Fluffy Can’t Type? Catproof Your Computer

PawSense in action

I have computers and cats in the house, but have not had any issues of either of the cats sending out emails or updating my logs, or adding to my site in an attempt to show thier control of technology. Heck, I haven’t even come home to the TV on a cat friendly channel. It seems that some people have had trouble with Fluffy editing or destroying thier work, for them PawSense comes to the rescue to monitor when Fluffy is walking across the keyboard.

Personally, I’ve had some ‘Coming to Jesus’ talks with both my cats about walking on my desk and we’ve come to an undestanding that desks are not for standing on, and simply training the cats have saved me twenty bucks that I can spend on Dr Pepper instead of this software.

All The Trauma, Little Of The Progress

Not Boris, but captures the feelingThis isn’t Boris, but I’m sure it captures his feelings on the subject of baths.

Today, I took my cat Boris to the groomers to get all cleaned up because his longish hair had him looking a bit too hippie-ish. With a new harness and leash in hand, I wrangled Boris into submission and finally got him in the harness. At this point, I was already starting to question my judgement, but I soldiered on toward the goal. Boris began to run away when I put him on the ground, only to find the end of the leash and he froze as the harness was around his chest and he had no idea which way to go to get out of his predicement. It was like watching him hit a forcefield. Once we were in the car, he stood in the passenger seat, with his paws on the door demanding help from the other drivers, but alas, no help arrived.

When I picked him up from the groomers, they said he was not fond of the dryer and threw enough of a fit that they were going to put him in a kennel to let him air dry. Yeah… that was the plan until they tried to get him through the kennel door and he expanded in a way that wouldn’t allow them to get him in there. so they let him lay on top of the kennel with his leash tied to the kennel to dry off. On the way home, I didn’t see much of a difference, other than the scents of the grooming stuff. Then when he finally got all dried out, he was much more soft and fluffy and even being a very good cat, for fear that I’d do it to him again.

Trouble Twins Caught On Film

Posted on April 6th, 2007 by William.

Here’s some pictures of the Trouble Twins, Vader (the black one) and Boris (the Russian Blue mix). It’s amazing how well they get along, since they were both adult males when introduced. Vader is two years old, Boris is three and they get along fine, even sharing a food bowl. If one gets locked behind a closed door, the other will search the house looking for the other half of the team. Boris has a deep seated belief that he runs the show, but this usually leads to him walking away frustrated when Vader acts like he didn’t get that memo.

Vader and Boris

They only look like they are paying attention to the nice human.

Boris

No autographs, please.

Vader

If Vader isn’t laying around sleeping, then he’s ready to get into something.

Today, I adopted a new cat. He’s a big black cat that’s 2 years old and very laid back. On the way home, I opened a flap of the box he was in and he popped his head out and looked around for a bit and seemed happy to see what was going on. Pretty soon, that just wasn’t enough and he slinked out of the box and explored the car, finding his bed riding place on the floorboard right in front of my driver’s seat, but out of the way of my feet and pedals. He seemed content to sit there and enjoy (or was he annoyed) the exhaust note of the trusty GTI.

As is becoming the common practice, the new member was given the middle bathroom to rule over as he gets used to the new place. Before I came into work, I opened the door to check on him and he confidently wandered out of the bathroom to check out the back portion of the house. Boris was in ‘his’ chair in my bedroom. When Boris saw the new fella, he made some noises that I’m fairly sure wouldn’t translate to “Welcome to the neighborhood, Let’s go have a drink”. Newbie looked at Boris for a moment, then continued to stroll around and check stuff out. He didn’t arch his back, or even make a noise toward Boris. Then again, Boris wasn’t even pissed off enough to stand up. I think that’s a good sign so far. I’m sure that in no time, Boris will be happy to have a companion to wrestle with and play tag at 3am again.
Here’s the pictures from adoption site:
